Subject: My Inbox is Full

Dear Barack,

Our time together during the primary season has been great. I think we made a really good match together. I heard all of your speeches, watched all of your debates, and you kept me updated on what you were doing with your campaign. I have a lot of fond memories from the last several months.

But the summer is here and I feel I need some space. I'm starting to feel slightly claustrophobic from your presence in my life and I think it would be best if we took a break from our current relationship. What I mean by "break" is a pretty simple standard hiatus from being a serious couple of candidate and voter. I'd like to follow up on some other candidates for now. You know, test the waters. I'm sure you've been thinking about speaking to a few voters with different tastes from me---like the conservative, religious type----and that's perfectly fine. I believe that if we both take a break from each other we can see what else is out there and gain a better understanding of the world and who we are ourselves.

I have a feeling you'll be wanting to keep in touch during this time. Normally in this situation I would be up for it, but your constant sending of emails is actually one of the major reasons that I'm feeling so overwhelmed. I mean, I get emails from you almost every day. And sometimes they're not even from you but from your friends David Plouffe and Jon Carson rattling on about how great you are. I realize you're just trying to keep me informed, and I appreciate that, but right now I'm more interested in a candidate that doesn't send me a video every time he makes a speech he's proud of.

I'm tired of being offered cheap t-shirts with your name on them, and I'm tired of you constantly asking me for just another twenty five dollars. Does my donating more money really dissolve your insecurities? I like you, Barack, I really do. But do I have to say it every time that I'm prompted?

Perhaps when the summer is over and the country gets into a new groove we can discuss getting back together. Maybe this break is all we need to realize that we're meant for each other and I'll vote for you in the general election.

But until then, please, please, please, stop emailing me.

Always your friend,

Kori

I get that feeling, too. Of course, I also get that feeling about Amazon, Macmall, certain sites I subscribe to, etc.
